After graduating from the Department of Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, I joined the Shiseido Advertising Department. After leaving the company in '59, I joined Deska, founded by Tako Kono, and became independent the following year. From '68, I was in charge of the art direction for Shiseido's PR magazine "Hanatsubaki," a role I held until 2011. A collection of works summarizing the work on "Hanatsubaki" is "Hanatsubaki and Nakajo HANATSUBAKI and NAKAJO Hanatsubaki 1968−2008." In addition, I have worked on a wide range of projects, including art direction for The Ginza, and logo designs for Matsuya Ginza, the Hosomi Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
